Purica Mushrooms

Yes, all of our medicinal mushrooms products are Vegan. They’re therefore suitable for both Vegan and Vegetarian diets.

Our products are shelf stable. Capsules can be stored at room temperature of 15-30 degrees in their bottle. They do not need to be refrigerated.

Yes! We offer our mushrooms in pure powder form in our traditional amber glass jars.  For a fun change of pace, you can also access the benefits of our mushrooms through our new PURICA Zensations product line. Check out our ready-to-mix line of delicious beverages.

None of our mushrooms are known to produce any mycotoxins. However, we always recommend consulting a health care practitioner if you have any specific condition or concerns.

This concern often arises around whether eating mushrooms can contribute to fungal overgrowth within the body, but this is not the case. Mushrooms can strengthen your immune response. It is also important to note that they are low in sugar. An over-abundance of sugar can promote yeast overgrowth.

As with all of our products we always recommended to consult with a healthcare professional if you have any specific condition.

Full spectrum medicinal mushrooms consist of the complete fungal material incorporating all of the biologically active components. These include the mycelium, fruitbodies, spores and the extra-cellular compounds that are excreted outside of the cell and into the surrounding environment. These compounds are produced throughout the entire life cycle of the organism and are accountable for the primary medicinal properties attributed to the fungal kingdom. They include compounds with antibiotic, antiviral, and antifungal qualities, along with other compounds that the fungus produces to protect itself from competing bacteria and microbes within its environment. All PURICA medicinal mushrooms are “full spectrum” and use elements from the entire life cycle of the mushroom.

Extraction methods include alcohol and water extraction that can draw out certain components at the expense of others. PURICA micronizes its mushrooms to unlock the active compounds from their indigestible fibrous matrix. Micronization is a newer technology that unlocks “all the ingredients” in the mushroom, converting them to tiny, highly absorbable particles. These active ingredients are then easily absorbed by the body to exert their potent health-promoting benefits.

Because we use the full spectrum of mushroom constituents, the active compounds vary slightly each batch. The industry standards for many extract products is a polysaccharide content of 30-40%.  Our products typically fall in the range of 70-80% polysaccharides and beta glucans content of 20-30%.  We guarantee a minimum level of 50% polysaccharide content.  As an example, see the certificates of analysis for some of our current batches for your information and comfort.

Beta-glucans are the primary compounds in medicinal mushrooms that are sought for strengthening the immune system.  But there are various other active compounds that exhibit positive effects on human health. Triterpenoids, sterols and nucleosides are examples of other beneficial compounds found in medicinal mushrooms. Alpha-glucans are a starch that is very similar to beta-glucans but they do not exhibit the same health promoting actions. In general, it is better to have a lower alpha-glucan content in the product, thus making more fungal tissue available for health promoting compounds. The alpha glucan content of PURICA mushrooms must be no greater than 5%, and our certificates of analysis typically show a 1-2% alpha glucan content.

PURICA mushrooms are North American lab grown. Our controlled methods of mushroom cultivation involve natural hybridization strains to optimize naturally-occurring constituents. We improve on nature to ensure each full-spectrum blend is of the utmost quality and potency. This results in mushrooms that do not require irradiation.

For example, PURICA Cordyceps is grown using a patented process that involves low temperature and low oxygen to mimic the growing conditions of cordyceps that are typically grown at high altitudes in the wild in the Himalayas. The result is that the cordyceps cultivated not only matches the chemical analysis of wild cordyceps, it exceeds the potency by a factor of five!
